Botanical Name: Pterocarpus indicus. Also known as New Guinea or Solomon Islands Rosewood.
Appearance: Heartwood can be either golden brown or a dark blood red. Sapwood pale yellow. Texture medium. Grain variable. The freshly cut wood has a fragrant odour and is often highly figured.
Common Uses: Furniture or musical instrument construction, dressed mouldings or decorative exterior applications.
Finishing: Oiled or clear-finished to highlight the natural colour and grain pattern.
